Programs

  • Our Blessing Box Project brings non-perishable food and toiletries directly to people in need. Community members can take what they need from the box anytime, day or night, no questions asked. We also encourage the surrounding community to give what they can to keep the boxes stocked. We are looking to expand this project throughout Hammond and NWI in 2024.

  • Our Free Health Education Seminars are designed to help the community gain access to information such as diabetes prevention, weight management, mental health and financial planning. At these events, we also serve a healthy snack, work through a simple movement activity and encourage the development of community and accountability. We partner with Community Healthcare Workers and educators to provide these classes.

  • The Fresh Produce Program is still in development for 2024. It is our goal to connect locally sourced produce with our community members in need. Throughout Hammond, East Chicago and Gary, many people live in food deserts, over one mile away from a store that sells fresh food. In order to thrive with dignity, it is important that all people have access to fresh food.

About our Mission

FEED (Food Equality, Education and Dignity) is a non-profit organization that works to end food insecurity in food deserts, provide health education for at-risk communities and enable all people to thrive with dignity. We provide these services with no strings attached and no barrier to entry for our assistance.
